Well, we might die thinking this thing to make happen but these two guys did what we think is the impossible. Generally, what constraints our plan to not convert is money, but this inspiring duo proved where there’s a will, there’s a way. Some of the most spontaneous plans are the best ones and surely this idea was one of those.

Nainital

Here is the quick view of this amazing journey which had converted from dream to reality.

  • It’s all started from Nainital, Anuj was sipping his tea and burst out this idea of exploring India on the road without spending a dime.
  • His friend Ishant got impressed with the plan and backed him up to join Anuj on this epic journey.
  • It was just one bike on which the duo left from Gurgaon to Jaipur but soon their fuel ran out. Fortunately, bike got space to get parked on and they started hitchhiking.

Mumbai

  • Every day was an amazing experience for them as they hopped into 18 vehicles including trucks, bikes, auto-rickshaw, good carrier and more and surviving on a medium-sized pizza, sponsored meals by truck driver and some they got from bakery.
  • After seeking for a free ride, to snoring on spare truck tyres, park benches, dividers, etc. they came to a decision that they will do a 500-day hitchhiking trip across the country. And so, they accelerated this journey from Mumbai, the city of dreams in July 2015.

Pune

  • A make-up studio became their shed for living with the help of a friend, witnessed saas-bahu serial being shot and enjoyed ice cream from the ice cream factory they got access to on the premises.

Goa

  • Like every other person, they got that feeling that one cannot depend on friends for help. And so, they began interacting with random strangers, became travel story tellers and in return got meals and made new friends on the way. They soon hitchhiked to Pune and friend’s arrangement made their day in Lavasa where they went on bike and sipped chai overlooking this serene beauty.
  • They hitchhiked again while travelling from Pune to Aurangabad, sleeping next to a garbage dump, sitting in a tractor and a goods van and surviving on bananas.

Bangalore

  • But what made their stop memorable is Goa. They camped on the beach, put up in an ashram, cooked their own meals, met other interesting travellers and explored different side of Goa, its remote villages.
  • Next, they headed to Bangalore which had turned into a surprise for them. After hitchhiking for days, they decided to spread their story on social platforms and asked people if they wanted to meet up and proffer them a meal or stay.

Ahmedabad

  • Response were flooded their timeline. From meals in pubs to staying at people’s homes and sharing their travel stories, they lived it all. Furthermore, their story get space in the newspapers that added diamonds to their fame.
  • It was not over there, they even got an invite to host a seminar in a school and share with students and teachers their learning so far. They handed over some tips, shared anecdotes and inspired many others to do what they dream of doing.
  • After their stay in Bangalore, it all started as the way it was till then. From drinking cheap booze to humming Kumar Sanu songs.

travel journey

  • It took five-night long journey from Bangalore to Ahmedabad reaching on time for the Garba Festival.
  • Staying at boys’ hostels to getting meal in exchange for giving someone a haircut, they moved to their next stop, Udaipur.
  • Anuj who belongs to Aligarh hitchhiked with Ishant to celebrate Diwali with his family. And in November 2015 they finally reached back to Nainital.
